La Masserie

The farm in whose context "La Masserie" was born has existed for three generations and has always been dedicated to the cultivation of various agricultural products and the raising of small animals, always holding high the pure peasant spirit typical of the places where it is located. The farm, immersed in the verdant plain, is located in the municipality of Bellona (Ce), a few kilometers from Capua, at the foot of Mount Rageto, in the heart of the area that has gone down in history as Campania Felix for the natural richness of its territory.
The locality in which it is located, "Masseria Vecchia," inspired the name of the winery, which despite being French is linked to the territory more than one can imagine. The term "masserie," in fact, is very similar phonetically to the Neapolitan equivalent meaning "masseria," referring to the farm built by the owner's grandfather, Giuseppe Carusone, in the early 1900s using tufa extracted from the underground tunnel that today constitutes the ancient cellar where the wine matures in barrels and is aged in bottles. From an old barn was, instead, created the winemaking room, from an old chicken coop a tasting room.
Since its inception, one of the basic principles of the winery's production philosophy has been total respect for the environment. This has translated into the non-use of synthetic chemicals both on the soil and vineyards and in the various processes of transformation, refinement and bottling of the final product. Therefore, the winery has, since 2017, boasted the organic label on its entire range.
Convinced that wine is a symbol of cheerfulness and joy, the winery has dressed its bottles with real art paintings created by Neapolitan artist Bruno Donzelli.
The desire to redeem the territory has led to the production of wines made from native grape varieties such as Pallagrello, white and black, and Casavecchia, handed down from generation to generation from the peasant roots from which we proudly come.
The efforts have been enormous, but the desire to help spread these grape varieties and the passion for the countryside have always encouraged us. We know that the rest of the work will be done by the quality and goodness of our expertly crafted vines, combining ancient customs handed down with modern techniques and equipment.
The choice of only two varieties, goes back to the desire to produce modest quantities for the benefit of the only goal the winery has set for itself: quality.
