Not yet 20, his paintings were exhibited at the Venice Biennale. Growing up, he achieved relevant successes in the international arena as a designer. Oenology can be seen as the latest challenge in an intense life studded with interests.\u003cbr\u003eIn the 1970s he moved to Salina, where he became fascinated by the \u003cstrong\u003ecultivation of Malvasia\u003c\/strong\u003e: grapes that local farmers harvest in mid-September and let dry in the sun for a couple of weeks. Hauner learned local winemaking techniques and supplemented them with the study of ancient and modern texts. Hauner's new winery was built in the 1980s in Lingua, a hamlet of Santa Marina Salina. The building built in the Aeolian style is equipped with a modern refrigeration system and steel barrels that flank wooden ones for aging, with a total capacity of 1,200 hectoliters.\u003cbr\u003eAfter Carlo Hauner,'s death in February 1996, the winery is energetically run by his son Carlo Junior with the valuable collaboration of his wife Cristina and sons Andrea and Michele.
